Spinazzola begins working on the pitch

Leonardo Spinazzola reached another important milestone this week as he works towards a full recovery from a torn Achilles tendon.

The Italian international began working on the pitch this week for the first time since he suffered the injury in early July during the Azzurri’s win over Belgium.

Today marked his third individual training session on the pitch as he was accompanied by a club trainer, who put him through a series of muscle and cardio drills on one of the secondary fields at Trigoria.

Roma boss Jose Mourinho was also on hand to view Spinazzola’s progress as he observed the player’s entire individual training session from the sidelines.

Despite the normal six to twelve months recovery timeline, Spinazzola has vowed to make his return to the pitch before the end of year—five months since suffering the injury.

Although the defender has been steadfast in his belief that he will return as soon as possible, Roma have been adamant that they won’t rush the recovery process.
