Spinazzola details painful recovery: “I cried a few times.”

Leonardo Spinazzola was asked to speak about his nine-month recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon which is now nearing an end with the fullback slowly being reintegrated with the rest of his teammates.

“There was a moment where I kept telling myself I would not be as fast as I was anymore, or that I wouldn’t be able to do certain things that came easy to me before that,” he said on Supertele for DAZN. “Everything was dark for a while.”

“I cried three or four times, especially when I would find myself not being able to complete a task. I felt like a bull just repeatedly heat-butting a cement wall that wouldn’t come down.”

When asked about the team, Spina replied, “I hope Roma end the season on a positive note, winning all the remaining games.”

He concluded, “The objective is to stay as high up as possible in the league standings, and I hope that on Thursday we can beat Bodø and have ourselves a thrilling final part to the Conference League.”
