After leaving the national team in Coverciano and flying to Finland to meet with Sakari Orava, famous sports surgeon at the NEO Hospital in Turku and a leading specialist in the treatment of tendons, Spinazzola had surgery earlier today to repair the torn Achilles tendon.
Sky Sport report that the fullback was operated on by Dr. Lasse Lempainen, under Orava’s supervision. Surgery came to an end a few minutes ago. So far, the timeline for a possible return is still quite broad: a minimum of 4 months worth of recovery is to be expected, with Spinazzola aiming for a return on the pitch later in the fall of this year.
