Roma defender Leonardo Spinazzola appeared on Canale 5 television show ‘Verissimo’ this evening and discussed his recovery process from a ruptured Achilles.
The Italian suffered the injury during the late stages of Gli Azzurri’s victory over Belgium in Euro 2020.
Although he admitted that the injury was initially difficult to accept, he’s more determined than ever to get back to full strength.
“I’m getting better and better, this month is arguably the most important one in my recovery program,” he explained.
“The last week’s revolved around the number of movements I can do, but now the quality is what matters most. I’ve got to improve the range of motion in my foot, but I’ve been off crutches for four weeks and I’m doing well.”
He continued, “This injury layoff has certainly given me more inner strength and I’ve grown a lot, now I feel like a lion inside.”
As for Italy’s Euro 2020 success, Spinazzola admitted that his emotions were all over the place after he was forced to miss out on the semifinal against Spain then the final versus England.
“I experienced a crazy swing of emotion during that period. But after the final, I was very excited after I received my medal. The whole team did a beautiful gesture towards and told me how much I deserved it.”
