Roma attacker Stephan El Shaarawy discussed his decision to renew his contract with the capital club.
In a post-match appearance following Roma’s pre-season friendly with Sporting Braga, El Shaarawy addressed the media’s questions regarding his ambitions for the season, Houssem Aouar’s arrival and more.
“The goal was to get in the best shape, it was an important test and we tackled it with great seriousness and good pace,” El Shaarawy remarked. “Sporting were ahead in preparation, but we dealt with it well. We need it to prepare ourselves better for the league campaign, and althought it’s a shame about the goal we conceded in the final minutes it was still a good test.”
“Belotti? I see him doing very well right now, he has also scored against Latina and it is known that attackers can have these moments from time to time, he must remain calm, train well and work hard.”
“Aouar? He is integrating very well, a high quality player, he has a lot of personality and is showing it even if we are only at the beginning. Even today he showed good things, he can be an important player for us.”
“I’m happy to stay at Roma. I’ve always said it: renewing my contract had always been my priority.”
