Roma attacker Stephan El Shaarawy shared a lengthy interview on his own YouTube channel, detailing his time at Roma and the recent reunion with Daniele De Rossi.

“Certainly my first memories of my time at Roma go straight to the debut goal I scored against Frosinone,” said El Shaarawy who first joined Roma on loan from AS Monaco in January 2016. “It was certainly a unique emotion, it was a liberating goal.”

“I had come from a difficult experience at Monaco, I arrived here in Trigoria, after having done two training sessions with the team, Spalletti told me that I would start and then I scored the opening goal. I was immediately embraced by all my teammates, a goal under the Curva Sud was truly an incomparable experience.”

“De Rossi’s return? The good thing, if I may say, is that almost nothing has changed, in the sense that Daniele has always maintained that cheerful spirit that he also had as a teammate, always smiling, always ready with a joke.”

“However, when he entered the field he was a warrior, a soldier who gave everything for his shirt, and so he still is the same today.”

“Roma fans? It’s not easy to find an adjective to describe them because they are special, they truly have an unconditional love for this club, whether it’s a Champions League semi-final, a Europa League Conference final or a Conference or Coppa Italia group match, they are always there to push , to cheer, to make us feel all their warmth, so they are truly special and we are happy to have them with us in every match.”

“My greatest moment with Roma has got to be winning the Conference League, therefore the first trophy with this shirt, a dream that came true. Then certainly the tour of Rome and the party on the bus with the whole city around, with all the people applauding and celebrating with us, that was certainly the most exciting moment of my time here.”
