Rennes midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who’s at the French club on loan from Roma, admitted today that his future is uncertain.
The Frenchman spent his second consecutive on loan following the arrival of manager Paulo Fonseca at Roma in 2019. However, with the season nearing its conclusion, it’s possible that Nzonzi could return to the Italian capital if Rennes are unable to complete a deal to keep him permanently.
“I’m in total oblivion right now,” he confessed to L’Equipe.
“I’m only at Rennes on loan and I still have another year left on my contract with Roma. The club is in a very particular situation and I don’t know what their thoughts are about my future.”
He added, “I’d be surprised if they let me return to Trigoria. I’m happy here in France, I’ve been abroad quite a bit but this club works really well. Plus, I’m not far from Paris, which has its advantages.”
