Steven Nzonzi was let go by Roma on a free transfer days before the end of the transfer window in Qatar.
The Frenchman signed a two-year contract with Al Rayyan and was recently presented to the media as the newest addition to Laurent Blanc’s team.
During the introductory press conference, the midfielder spoke of his decision to join Al Rayyan:
“I am happy to play alongside many players who have had remarkable careers in Europe.”
“I received numerous offers but I chose to come to Al Rayyan to experience the country where the 2022 World Cup will take place.”
He added:
“It will be nice to play with Brahimi and James Rodriguez, very experienced players.”
“I am honored to be able to work with Laurent Blanc, I remember when I watched him on television during the 1998 World Cup. I will give everything for the club.”
