Roma met with Chris Smalling’s agent earlier today to determine the future of the English centreback.
James Featherstone was seen on Trigoria’s grounds after landing in the capital to meet with General Manager Tiago Pinto.
The two discussed the possibility of extending Chris Smalling’s stay in the Italian capital.
Roma want to keep Smalling for an additional two years, offering him a long-term deal worth €2.5 million per season.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, the player is keen on signing an extension with the capital club, but for the moment Roma’s proposal does not satisfy his demands.
Both sides are expected to continue to negotiate amidst concrete interest from Inter.
