Former Roma and current Marseille midfielder Kevin Strootman spoke to vi.nl about his move from the Italian side to reuniting with former Giallorossi manager Rudi Garcia. These are his words:
“My transfer? The presence of Rudi Garcia played a role. I knew him from my time at AS Roma, and he wanted me – the club did everything to get me and the manager even called me several times with the message that they needed me. That gave me a good feeling and I now I will try to live up to that trust. My initial experiences have been positive. A new adventure has started for me with Marseille. Of course, it takes some getting used to things after five years at Roma. I’ve arrived in a new country and a new league. In Italy, it is much more tactical, in France, it is much more physical”.
