Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Taison took to his official Instagram account to hit out at his parent club after he failed to complete a move to neither Roma nor Milan before the close of the transfer window. The Brazilian’s message was short yet clear, “Congratulations on ending my dream”.
The 31 year-old was heavily linked with a move to both Italian sides, however, his agent confirmed to RomaPress just days ago that the Ukrainian side would not lower their asking price of €30 million — which is equal to the amount of his release clause.
Roma were forced to change objectives after it became clear they would not be able to lower Shakhtar’s demands. The Giallorossi ultimately decided to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Arsenal to the club while Milan lured Ante Rebić from Frankfurt.
RomaPress contacted the Brazilian’s agent, Diego Dornelles, regarding his client’s message. These are his words:
Taison seemed upset in his Instagram message. Is he disappointed that a move to Italy did not go through?
We’re all disappointed.
Shakhtar didn’t want to lower their demands?
Correct, they did not.
