Talks ongoing between El Shaarawy-Shanghai Shenhua for contract resolution

RomaPress – Stephan El Shaarawy’s brother and agent, Manuel, remains engaged in negotiations with Shanghai Shenhua for the resolution of the attacker’s contract with the club.

The 28 year-old has spent the past few weeks training in Dubai as he remains poised to join a new club this month. He reached an agreement with the Chinese side in the summer that would allow him to join a bigger European side on loan as he aims to earn a place at the Euros next summer.

Last month, though, El Shaarawy decided that he wanted to leave the club permanently and asked his brother to open discussions regarding the termination of his contract.

To date, the parties have not been able to reach an understanding – however, that could change in the coming days. Manuel El Shaarawy is expected to meet with representatives of Shanghai on Monday or Tuesday to see if they can bridge the gap on a definitive agreement.

Should a deal be struck, El Shaarawy’s first choice is to rejoin the Giallorossi on a free transfer. General Director Tiago Pinto has given his “OK” for the arrival of “il Faraone” but he and manager Paulo Fonseca must first wait for an update on the contractual situation with Shanghai.
