What for Tammy Abraham started out as a difficult season could even turn worse as the Roma attacker awaits a decision from England boss Gareth Southgate regarding the upcoming World Cup campaign in Qatar.
As reported by Il Tempo, there is a concrete chance for Abraham to be excluded from Southgate’s list given the heated competition for the back-up spot to Harry Kane.
The Italian newspaper claims that Newcastle’s Callum Wilson and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are now leading the race over Abraham.
Toney, however, is also being investigated by the FA for matchfixing. A potential sentence could compromise his chances of getting called up and thus allow Abraham a last glimmer of hope before kick-off in Qatar.
