Roma forward Tammy Abraham was one of the few positives with his appearance of the bench in tonight’s disappointing display at the Mapei Stadium.
The Englishman scored his third Serie A goal of the season and dedicated it to those he felt he’d disappointed in the first months of this year’s new campaign.
“I want to address my words to the fans, my teammates and my coach, and apologise for not having expressed myself to the level of last season. I haven’t been myself lately,” Abraham said in a post-match interview with DAZN.
“In the end I’m just a young guy, a human being. I’ve gone through a difficult moment with little confidence. Today I wanted to show fans that I’m still here, that I’m ready to help the team.”
“In the end I think we lost a bit of focus. We’ve played a lot of games over recent months and perhaps there was a bit of fatigue in the end. It’s always difficult playing here. We have to think about the next game as the three points will be crucial.”
“Mourinho? He knows me as a player. He knows everyone on the team. He knows we can go through ups and downs during the course of a season. Perhaps I put too much pressure on myself, I really wanted to score as many goals as possible. I’m very happy I scored tonight. I still have one more game before the break to show my worth.”
