Tammy Abraham discusses Roma, Mourinho & more ahead of Leicester clash

Roma forward Tammy Abraham took the time in a recent interview with UEFA to discuss his time in the capital with José Mourinho and the upcoming Conference League semifinal with Leicester.

On life in Rome, Abraham said, “I love this city! It’s an experience I’ll never forget and coming here was a dream come true: I wanted something new.”

“I grew up in England, so it was nice to get to know a different culture. Here I see the history of the city and I enjoy the food, I live well every minute.”

“From day one, I fell in love with Rome, the team and the fans. They made me feel like family right away.”

“Getting to the airport and seeing the fans waiting for me was exciting. I hope to win the Europa Conference League to strengthen this bond even more.”

“His first words were: “Do you prefer to stay in England, where it always rains, or come to the sun in Rome?” We laughed, but then he said, “No, seriously.”

“I’ve always considered him a father figure and according to him this is the best place for me right now; I can leave a mark on Italian football and make myself known all over the world, not only in England. That was enough for me.”

“He knows when I’m focused and when I’m tired. He can really lead the team and inspire it to want more. It’s a breath of fresh air.”

“When we have to wake up, he’s there. When we play well, he tells us but he wants even more. A player couldn’t ask for better.”

On facing Leicester City, he said, “We are going strong, we are convinced and in confidence. They play a bit like us, taking advantage of the fast break. They have very fast players who like to run, but also good midfielders.”

“We must prepare ourselves with confidence, because if we are in the day we can beat anyone. It’s just about believing in ourselves.”

“I’ll go back to England and this game will allow me to show what I learned in Italy. I’m excited, I think the whole family will come to see me.”
