Tammy Abraham on Conference League progression: “This win is for the supporters.”

Roma attacker Tammy Abraham lauded the impact of the club’s supporters tonight following their 1-0 victory against Leicester City.

Over 65,000 supporters packed the Stadio Olimpico to see the Englishman fire the Giallorossi into the Conference League final thanks to his first half headed goal, which proved to be enough to send the Premier League side packing.

“Before the game started, the supporters won us this game. We could hear them before getting into the stadium and throughout the warm-up,” he told BT Sport.

“We weren’t even on the pitch and we heard them. The win was for them and my team. Hopefully we can go all the way.”

“My job is to be active around the box. That’s the kind of striker I am. Whenever I sniff an opportunity I try to take my chance. I’m not the best at heading but today was a pretty good one.”

Adding, “It was a bit of a surprise (that he was being marked by Ricardo Pereira), but it doesn’t matter who is marking me, if I sniff a chance I have to go for it.”

“I tried and my team tried. You had to give your all. We left everything out there. In the last couple of minutes I couldn’t breathe. He told me to keep going and we did that.”

The 24 year-old bagged his 9th goal of the competition, making him the Conference League’s lone top goalscorer.
