Tammy Abraham: “Tomorrow would be the perfect time for my first goal against Leicester.”

Roma's Tammy Abraham

Roma forward Tammy Abraham sat alongside manager José Mourinho to preview the Conference League semifinal with Leicester.

“Like the coach said, Leicester are a good team.”

“We have prepared this game, had meetings and trainings, I’m sure my teammates also know what to expect.”

“I’ve never scored against them, tomorrow would be the perfect time for me to score and win.”

When asked about working Mourinho, Abraham said, “José is one of the best coaches ever for me. He knows how to guide you, I needed someone who could bring out the best in me, like him.”

“He’s not one of those coaches who tells you that you played well, because he always wants more. For me and my teammates, he is the perfect coach.”

On his achievement of scoring the most goals in a first season for any Roma player ever, he said:

“For me to do this in a big club like Roma is an incredible feeling.”

“I came from a difficult season at Chelsea, I came here and started shining again and for me this is a dream come true.”

“I heard the market rumours, obviously I’m doing well, but also teammates and coach play their part in all of this. I hope to win a trophy.”

On Zaniolo, “We had time to play together and get to know each other better. I understand what kind of player he is and Nicolò understands what kind of player I am.”

“For me, playing with him means having less pressure, he’s strong, fast, it helps me a little. I can play more freely if he is on the pitch, I can be more myself. I like to play with him.”

Finally, he touched upon the market rumours, “I was born and raised in England. As I said, if there is interest from these clubs, it means that I’m doing well in Rome.”

“I just have to stay focussed on this competition and on the league. We’ll see what happens in the future, but now I’m just thinking about tomorrow’s game.”
