Tammy Abraham says Roma’s morale was low prior to Empoli win

Despite Empoli proving to be a difficult opponent, Roma manage to overcome their own limitations and get back to winning ways after suffering two consecutive losses.

The author of tonight’s winning goal – Tammy Abraham – was interviewed by DAZN after the final whistle. The Englishman said the team’s morale was low prior to the match against Empoli.

“We needed this win very much,” said the Roma striker. “Morale wasn’t too high this time around. I’m happy I scored tonight,” he added.

When asked about Mourinho growing more frustrated with him during the game and as a result considering a substitution prior to his goal, Abraham simply replied, “Maybe it was a tactical choice given that we’re playing again in three days’ time.”

“Today was a difficult match, we were coming off two negative results. There were good individual performances, but it was a collective effort,” Abraham concluded.
