A report published by Corriere dello Sport claims Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini has been unhappy with the club and their handling of Daniele De Rossi’s dismissal earlier this week.
According to the Italian newspaper, the skipper asked the club’s upper management to reconsider their decision before making it official. However, they weren’t dissuaded and ultimately announcement De Rossi’s dismissal early Wednesday.
The midfielder was a part of a small cohort, which also included Gianluca Mancini, that attempted to convince the Giallorossi’s hierarchy not to axe the 41 year-old. The situation was made worse when the club failed to consult the players before they officially made their decision.
The newspaper states that tension between Pellegrini and the club is at an all-time high right now.
