This was not supposed to go like this. When in the summer of 2018, former sporting director Ramon Monchi brought two youngsters to the club – one an exciting young Croatian talent in Ante Ćorić, another a good French prospect in William Bianda – Roma seemed convinced of these two players as long-term solutions.
Yet, fast forward to three years later and both players are looking leave to Roma permanently.
Ćorić, after three separate loan spells at three different clubs in three different countries (Almeria, VVV-Venlo, Olimpija Ljubljana) is back in the capital training with the others excluded from Mourinho’s preseason group training. Bianda, after two mediocre seasons playing for Roma’s Primavera and an unsuccessful loan spell in Belgium (S.V. Zulte Waregem) is also in Rome, waiting for a new destination.
Roma have communicated to both of them that they do not fit the club’s plans going forward.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Ćorić and Bianda are currently negotiating a contract resolution with a ‘buonuscita.’ Both contracts are set to expire in 2023.
