Speaking before kick-0ff, Roma executive Tiago Pinto stressed the importance of this evening’s showdown against Sassuolo.
The Giallorossi enter the affair under difficult circumstances aftervlast weekend’s controversial draw to Genoa, which they followed up two days later with a 2-0 loss to Inter in the Coppa Italia.
“Sassuolo is a team with a very strong identity in their game,” he told DAZN.
“I’ve been at Roma for 13-14 months and this is one of the team’s that has impressed me most in terms of quality in their game. We have to bring out our best today.”
Pinto was also asked about the situation involving manager Jose Mourinho. The ‘Special One’ reportedly had an outburst towards his player in the dressing room following their elimination to the Nerazzurri.
“What happens in the locker room stays there. Mourinho and I are aligned on strategy, whatever happened in the dressing room is staying within the team.”
He added, “How do I assess this season compared to last? For me, this isn’t a helpful comparison.”
“Furthermore, we won’t draw conclusions until the end of the season, when we’ll better understand the evolution of the team.”
