Roma executive Tiago Pinto reiterated his confidence in manager Jose Mourinho ahead of the team’s Conference League showdown in the Italian capital tonight against Vitesse.
The capital club enter tonight’s second leg with a slim 1-0 advantage thanks to their victory last week in the Netherlands.
“It’s true attack has been lacking goals lately, but I’m certain with work and a bit of luck we’ll succeed,” he told Sky Sport.
“Tammy (Abraham) is doing well but of course I think he can do better. He has quality and technically he’s very strong. The most important thing tonight, though, is that the team wins.”
“Zaniolo? He has incredible potential. He can play several roles but he needs a bit of freedom. He needs to be given space considering how explosive he is.”
He added, “We knew when we started that this was a three-year project. It is important to state your ideas, regardless of the result. We can still have a good season along with these supporters and over these next three years we’ll have a team that can win things.”
“As for Mourinho, what’s struck me most about him is the motivation he has in his work. His career is incredible, yet he works every day with such commitment, which motivates everyone. That surprised me.”
