Tiago Pinto denies Ronaldo-Roma rumours

Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto attended tonight’s event at the Thinking Football Summit in Porto, where Mourinho – among others – was awarded for his career achievements.

During the event, Pinto was asked about the recent rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a shocking move to Roma.

“One of the things that annoys me a bit in Italy is that we always talk about the transfer market. We talk every day about it, here in Portugal we are better off because we only talk when the market opens, but the truth is that Cristiano has never been a possibility.”

“These rumors have never had any basis, but in Italy we talk about three different players every day, it is perhaps normal to link the pieces together because Mourinho and I are Portuguese and Ronaldo is Portuguese, but this, I repeat, has never had any basis.”

“Financial Fair Play? When the club was bought in 2020 it was in a difficult situation because we were part of a group of teams that followed the rules of Financial Fair Play.”

“We had to carry out a complete overhaul of the squad in which we had to significantly reduce the wage bill and at the same time improve the quality of the squad.”

“The World Cup? We as a club are always worried when our players leave for international duty. We sit tight, hoping that the players don’t get injured, that there are no problems and that they come back quickly all safe and sound.”

“As a Portuguese I want things to go well, but I also have to say that if Portugal can’t win I would like Argentina to win. For Dybala and above all for Messi who deserves to end his career with a World Cup.”
