Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto took the floor before introducing the club’s latest signing, Gini Wijnaldum, to the media.
The Portuguese director explained the player’s motivation to join the club throughout weeks of intense negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain who ultimately agreed to a loan with option to buy at the end of the season for the 31-year-old midfielder.
“I think that contrary to what was said in the other press conferences, this was a long negotiation and, truth be told, I don’t like them.”
“There was a great desire on both sides to close the deal, especially Wijnaldum,” added Pinto.
“When someone of his level fights so hard to come here, it means our project has gained a great amount of credibility.”
“I’m tired after all the negotiations, but I’m glad I brought him here. Now it’s up to him to train and make himself available to the coach.”
