Tiago Pinto looking at transfer market options

As reported in today’s edition of Il Tempo, Roma’s General Manager is hard at work for the upcoming pre-season. While the situation with Dzeko awaits to be resolved, Pinto wants to prioritize the following roles: an experienced and reliable goalkeeper as well as a starting midfielder. Both deals, however, have come to a halt.

Regarding Xhaka, Roma have agreed terms with the player almost a month ago. Meanwhile, the deal came to a stop once the Gunners refused Roma’s first offer: the Italian club remains confident, however, and waits for Arsenal to lower their asking price.

As for Rui Patricio, he is not the only option being considered to replace Pau Lopez. The Portuguese player has had an initial agreement with Roma, but the club remains on the look-out for other options. Indeed, Roma consider the goalkeeper role a vital one and prefer to take their time: Gollini, Atalanta’s young keeper, is being looked at, amongst others.

Finally, the Italian newspaper reports that it is highly unlikely for Roma to close both deals before the first pre-season meeting on July 6th.
