Gianluca Mancini is waiting to understand, like many others in the dressing room, his future at the club, reports Corriere dello Sport. The defender’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, has been engaged in negotiations over a contract renewal for the last few months.
General Manager Tiago Pinto continues to negotiate the financial details of the deal and the two are reportedly set to meet once again later in March.
Mancini’s recent extension until 2026 was triggered due to a clause in his contract related to a specific set of requirements that awaited to be fulfilled.
The Italian centre-back is one of Mourinho’s most trusted men, the third highest in terms of minutes played, and after having featured 112 official games with the Giallorossi and become vice-captain to Lorenzo Pellegrini, the 26-year-old is hoping to extend his stay in the capital until 2027.
His current wages amount to €2 million. It is his hope to be able to convince the capital club to raise his salary to €3 million a year. However, nothing is set in stone, reports the Italian newspaper, and Roma will continue to negotiate the defender’s renewal in the coming weeks.
