Tiago Pinto, Roma’s incoming General Director, tests positive for COVID

RomaPress – Tiago Pinto’s arrival in Rome is expected to be delayed after his current employer, Benfica, announced that he and central midfielder, Pizzi, both tested positive for COVID-19 today.

The 36 year-old was set to touch-down in the Italian capital next week to officially begin his new role with the Giallorossi, which was set to begin on the 1st of January. Pinto was named the club’s General Director in November and will oversee all sporting-related matters for Roma — including the transfer market.

Now, though, the Portuguese executive’s arrival in Italy will be delayed as he will now be forced to quarantine.

The good news, however, is that Portugal is currently on “List C” of Italy’s new regulations relating to foreign travel. This means that travel to and from these countries is permitted without the need for any certification of motivations for travelling.

For entry into Italy, though, in case of stay or transit from List C countries in the previous 14 days, in addition to completing a self-declaration, a negative COVID-19 molecular or antigenic test is required in the 48 hours prior to entry.
