After calling it quits with the Armenian national team, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is now fully focused on his club career.
The veteran attacker wants to continue playing at a high level and the consistency of his performances under Jose Mourinho has given Roma a reason to initiate talks regarding a contract extension for the player whose current contract is set to expire in June.
Italian newspaper Il Tempo reports that there is growing optimism on both sides that a deal will be reached soon.
General Manager Tiago Pinto is scheduled to fly next week to Monte-Carlo where he will meet with Mkhitaryan’s entourage.
It remains to be seen whether the extension will be of an additional year or two with a lower salary included.
