One of the transfer targets that Roma had their eyes on this summer is closing in on a move elsewhere.
English journalist Chris Wheatley of Football London reports that Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is nearing a loan move to Fiorentina.
The deal will also reportedly include an obligation to buy, signaling an end to the midfielder’s tenure with the Gunners after three years.
Torreira, 25, was one of the defensive midfield options that was being considered by Roma boss José Mourinho.
The 58 year-old is pushing Tiago Pinto, General Director of the Giallorossi, for one last reinforcement this summer. He’s eager for a new defensive midfielder that he can pair alongside Jordan Veretout.
