Tottenham Hotspurs are reportedly retreating from the race for Roma attacker Nicolò Zaniolo as the transfer window enters its second and final month.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte’s side have been discouraged by Roma’s high demands for the talented 23-year-old.
The Italian newspaper claims that Spurs went as far as offering around €40 million for Zaniolo, which the Giallorossi promptly rejected as the capital club continue to demand at least €50-60 million.
Hence, Spurs director Fabio Paratici is unlikely to advance another proposal as Roma have shown no intention of lowering their initial demands to facilitate a transfer for Zaniolo.
