Former Roma captain and director Francesco Totti discussed several topics today – including the end of his playing career with the Giallorossi – while on Instagram Live with Damiano Er Faina.
“Pallotta didn’t ‘tell’ me that he wasn’t renewing my contact. Let’s just say that he made sure I got the message – which is a shame because I deserved more respect after what I did for Roma,” he said.
“I received the call when there were only two matches left. The world collapsed on me. I thought I deserved more respect”.
Totti also went on to discuss his relationship with Antonio Cassano, who joined Roma in 2001.
“Cassano was like a brother to me, he was my ideal partner to play alongside. We played with our eyes closed. I was upset when he left because he was the only one who was able to do things I could from a technical standpoint”.
“The best player I played against? Ronaldo. Without taking anything away from Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi…he was superior”.
