Roma director and former captain Francesco Totti spoke to Premium Sport ahead of this evening’s Champions League draw. Here are his words:
“I’ve always gone away in my kit, but it’s fine like this. I’m here with another yet important garment. Director and footballer are two different jobs, but I want this club to grow.”
You left the Olimpico under a lot of emotion. How are you focusing your energy on this new role?
I will hardly ever forget that day, but I’ve metabolized my time as a footballer and the pitch. Now I’ll make myself available as a director, and these are two important things. The award I’ll receive today is one of the most important I’ve ever received.
You will receive the President’s Award, an award that will reward you for your career at Roma.
Exactly, I always dreamed of playing with one shirt. This is an important trophy like those I won with Roma. I will receive it from the president of UEFA and will showcase it at Trigoria.
What do you think about Inter and Spalletti?
It is one of the most important matches of the season, we want to put on a good display and bring the 3 points home and with Spalletti it will be as normal just like before.
We want to buy him. He is a suitable player for Roma and we want him here.
