Udinese have appointed former Roma left back Federico Balzaretti as the club’s new sporting director.
The 41 year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Zebrette that runs through 30 June 2025. It will be his first senior management role in Serie A after he spent the two previous seasons with Serie C side Vicenza.
Balzaretti is tasked with replacing the legendary Pierpaolo Marino, who officially departed the club last week. One of the league’s most respected executives, Marino spent nine years at Udinese over two stints. His deal was set to expire at the end of the month but the two sides decided to go their separate ways.
