Udinese boss Luca Gotti praises Roma after his side’s defeat: “Their qualities must be recognised.”

Udinese manager Luca Gotti was complimentary of Roma, who defeated his side by a scoreline of 3-0 this afternoon in the Italian capital.

The Italian tactician lamented his side’s defensive errors but maintained that the Giallorossi are a side that need to be taken into consideration for the Scudetto.

“We lacked balance today, usually we’re much better at this,” he commented to Sky Sport.

“They created danger for us with just a few vertical passes, once they scored the penalty they just had to preserve their lead. This Roma has quality players and a good manager, they have all of the ingredients for a competitive team, their qualities must be recognised.”

He continued, “We got close in the second half and perhaps a goal in the final twenty minutes could have changed things, but we have to learn as to why we conceded so many chances to them.”

Finally, Gotti was seen joking at full time with Roma attacker Pedro, who scored the third and final goal for the Giallorossi, and was asked what he said to the Spaniard.

“I teased him before the match and said that he doesn’t need to worry about today, he should focus on the Europa League match on Thursday. He told me that he was hoping to play a few minutes,” he laughed.

“I told him that I hope he doesn’t take part in the game, even for five minutes. He was giving me a bit of stick after the game for that.”
