The race for top-four took another turn this afternoon when Udiense secured just their second victory of the season, stunning Bologna by a 3-0 scoreline.
Despite ending the match with only 25% of possession, Gabriele Cioffi’s side punished the visitors with their clinical finishing and subsequently knocked the Rossoblu out of fourth place.
Veteran midfielder Roberto Pereyra opened the scoring midway through the first half after a flurry of saves from Lukasz Skorupski. Udinese would add two more just after the break from Lorenzo Lucca and a rocket of a shot from midfielder Martín Payero.
Speaking at full-time, Bologna boss Thiago Motta expressed his frustration at his team’s mistakes, “Udinese profited a lot from our errors, we gave away too many fast transitions and they did well to bring the game home.”
Adding, “Today we were lacking in all areas, we didn’t create chances or push forward well. We never managed to do what we wanted to do to get through a defence that knows how to do their jobs. We will accept this result and keep working”.
