UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona

UEFA announced this evening that they have opened disciplinary proceedings against Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona for their roles in the formation of the breakaway Super League.

For weeks Europe’s governing footballl body has threatened potential action against the trio after they refused to apologise and distance themselves from the failed venture.

Their statement read, “Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework.”

“Further information will be made available in due course.”

It remains to be seen what possible discipline the clubs may face, but it’s been rumored that all three could be handed a ban from UEFA’s club competitions.
