Valencia end pursuit of Roma’s Amadou Diawara

Amadou Diawara of AS Roma

RomaPress – Less than five hours remain in the January transfer market but Roma are still at work attempting to finalise deals.

One operation the Giallorossi are desperately trying to get over the finish line involves the sale of midfielder Amadou Diawara. The Guinean international has featured in only eight matches this season and both he and the club were hoping for a split this month.

Several clubs displayed interest in the midfielder, but Spanish side Valencia were one of the first to initiate contact with his agent, Daniele Piraino. The player was quick to accept the La Liga outfit as his next destination and there was optimism the deal would be completed before today’s deadline.

However, a member of the midfielder’s entourage informed RomaPress that Valencia “completely disappeared” over the past 24 hours. They were prepared to fly to Spain today once Los Che submitted their formal offer to Roma, but this never happened.

Currently, the only option on the table for Diawara is Venezia. The Venetians submitted a six-month loan offer for the midfielder, who is unsure whether or not to accept the deal.
