Venezia boss Paolo Zanetti lauds team for win over Roma

Paolo Zanetti of Venezia

Venezia manager Paolo Zanetti was all smiles at full time after his team came from behind to defeat Roma 3 to 2 this afternoon.

The Venetian side gave themselves a huge boost in their fight to stave off relegation as they handed the Giallorossi their fifth league defeat of the season.

“Even if the result were different, I still would’ve been proud of my team,” he said to Sky Sport.

“But I thank my players because of the spirit they brought on to the pitch today. We’re starting to form a good group here, our core is made up of guys in their twenties.”

“We did well to take advantage of Roma’s mistakes, we had a very important performance. You often see the newly promoted teams play defensively against the big sides, but not us.”

Finally, “We were proactive today. We needed everyone to play their part and that’s what happened, we turned the match around against a very strong team.”
