RomaPress – The odds are increasing that Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara will remain with the club for the remainder of the season following heavy transfer speculation throughout this month.
The Giallorossi hoped to offload the former Bologna man in January in order to bring in a more defensively-minded midfield presence.
Several clubs both in Italy and abroad showed interest in acquiring Diawara, but so far none of them have submitted an official offer to Roma. With less than 48 hours remaining in the January transfer window, the midfielder’s agent, Daniele Piraino, is rushing to find a solution.
Earlier today, he met with representatives from Venezia in Milano to discuss a potential loan deal. The newly promoted side expressed significant interest in bringing Diawara to the club before tomorrow’s deadline. However, a member of the midfielder’s entourage informed RomaPress they’re pessimistic the deal can get done.
Venezia are only interested in a straight loan deal and would also require Roma to pay a large portion of the midfielder’s wages.
