Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout gave an extensive interview to France Football and discussed a variety of topics, including his summer move from Fiorentina to the Giallorossi.
“(This summer) My priority was to join a big Italian side. I had the opportunity to move to a top French team – it wouldn’t have been a step back – but I love Serie A too much to leave. My wife’s opinion also mattered. We both like Italy. So I took time and relied on my feelings,” the Frenchman admitted.
“Fonseca phoned me to talk to me about his footballing ideas and how he thinks I could evolve. He watched nearly all of my games and described how I played – he seemed very interested in me. Now it’s up to me to take my place on the pitch and try to do what I’m capable of. His game suits me. On paper I replaced a legend like De Rossi, but I can’t compare myself to him.”
“Some think I’m a bit reserved, but the will to win is inside. On the pitch, I’m completely different – I’m aggressive”.
