Veretout discusses move to Marseille: “It was time to come back to France.”

Jordan Veretout was unveiled by Marseille earlier today after finalising a move to the club on a permanent deal from Roma.

The Frenchman completed a transfer to the French side in a deal worth €11 million plus €4.5 million in potential bonuses tied to appearances and Marseille’s final league finish.

“I’m very happy to be here,” began Veretout during his unveiling.

“I wanted to live abroad and discover different kinds of football and cultures but now it felt right to come back to France. I’ve been linked to OM previously but nothing was ever concrete.”

He continued, “It’s wonderful to be back and playing for Marseille, it’s a huge project so I’m very happy and I hope we’re able to do great things this season.”

“I’m going to give my everything and fight until the very end. Last year I experienced wonderful emotions with Roma (after winning the Conference League against Feyenoord).”

Finally, “I hope to relive those feelings here at OM, which is such a magical place. I’m here to play football and enjoy myself.”
