With Sunday evening’s showdown against Juve just a few days away, Roma’s Jordan Veretout discussed his team’s approach to this weekend’s clash.
Fresh off capturing his first senior level trophy following France’s Nations League win, the midfielder admitted that he’s eager for similar success at club level.
“It’s fantastic winning a trophy, I’m very happy to have won with the national team,” began the Frenchman when speaking to Sky Sport.
“I haven’t been a part of the group long, but it feels great—winning a trophy with France is one of the most beautiful things.”
“We’re working well under Mourinho and we’re ready for Sunday, he gives you something a bit extra when you’re on the pitch. When you’ve got a manager like him, you always want to do double what he asks of you.”
He continued, “We want to satisfy what he wants. In my opinion, if we do what he asks of us, we can reach the top. We must do better this season than we did last year against the big teams.”
“But we have a manager who has won almost everything, he’s giving us the mentality required to win all matches. Though, we always play to win, but we know it’s going to be tough on Sunday.”
“We’ve got a very difficult month ahead of us so we must stay calm, but just like every game, we’re going to Torino to play to win.”
Finally, “The manager will slowly work his way into our heads before Sunday—reiterating that winning a match like this one against Juve is very important.”
