Former Inter striker Bobo Vieri expressed his disappointment at Roma’s recent decision to sack Jose Mourinho after two-and-a-half seasons together—a move he “really didn’t expect.”
Giallorossi president Dan Friedkin dismissed the Special One last month following the team’s 3-1 defeat to Milan, appointing former captain Daniele De Rossi as his replacement.
“I was very disappointed by Mourinho’s dismissal, I really didn’t expect it,” Vieri told La Gazzetta dello Sport’s weekly periodical “Sportweek.”
“So be it, Roma are right there for fourth. They’ve got to play better and they’ve got the personnel to do it, but Mou won the Conference League in his first season then reached a Europa League final despite Dybala barely playing.”
Adding, “Dybala is the strongest number 10 in the league. Roma also have Lukaku but what’s the point of having him if nobody can distribute the ball to him? Furthermore, Dybala, Lukaku, and Paredes are at Roma right now because Mourinho was there.”
“As for De Rossi, I’m very happy for him and wished him luck because it’s a chance he couldn’t pass up.”
