Villarreal interested in Marcano

Spanish outlet El Periodico Meditteraneo have reported that La Liga side Villarreal are interested in Roma defender Ivan Marcano.

Reportedly, the former Porto man had interest in Spain during the summer period before ultimately choosing to sign with Roma. After disappointing performances with the Giallorossi in his first few months, it’s possible that he could leave the club during the January transfer window. Marcano was signed for Villarreal in 2009, however, he played only one season at the club. One stumbling block to a potential deal, though, are the Spaniard’s wages, as he earns €1.5 million — the ideal operation would involve a loan for six months with an option to buy in the summer.
