Former Roma player Vincent Candela spoke in favor Daniele De Rossi’s long-term stay as the club’s head coach.
In an interview with Il Corriere della Sera, Candela spoke about De Rossi’s future and Paulo Dybala’s importance to the team.
“In two months Daniele De Rossi has made his potential clear,” said the ex-defender. “Even if he still has a lot to prove, I would renew his contract for five years.”
“The Friedkins speak little but they also act: they had a good run with Mourinho, and now I hope they can do the same with De Rossi,” he added.
“Daniele has played his whole life in Rome, he knows the environment, he will become a great coach on and off the pitch: this is the strength of a club compared to those who change every two or three years, and an important figure will also be needed at an executive level.”
“Dybala? I think he should be pampered, he is the best player in Roma and, in my opinion, in Serie A,” he continued.
“I would keep him for many years, obviously taking into account his physical difficulties. Some clubs, I’m speaking in general, don’t take care of their champions. I remember that my great president Sensi, to whom I owe everything, let go of Cafu who made the fortunes of Milan. It recently happened with Dzeko, and before that with Samuel. Some players should be kept because they are pillars.”
