Former Roma fullback and Scudetto winner Vincent Candela addressed the Giallorossi’s recent slump in an interview with La Repubblica ahead of Roma’s last game before the international break.
“The Derby? I was at the stadium. In a scenario that doesn’t include mistakes the game ends 0-0. Unfortunately we gave away the goal, but I expected to see more chances, instead so far I have seen few shots on target, too many horizontal balls, no one who takes the risk or tries a dribble.”
“But I would like to say something about Ibanez. Sometimes he loses a bit of concentration. But I have no doubt: he has all the potential to become one of the greatest defenders.”
“Mourinho? He plays with the players he has at his disposal, Guardiola plays well because he has very technical players.”
“As a team, you can do better, but to have a good game you also need to have great players. There are no miracles in football. I also say that, Without his playing style that everyone likes to criticize, Roma would not have won the Conference League. Everything becomes much harder with injuries.”
