Vincent Candela weighs in on Roma’s busy offseason: “I’m counting on Ghisolfi and De Rossi.”

Ex-Roma player Vincent Candela weighed in on Roma’s busy summer ahead of next season.

In an interview with Il Corriere della Sera, Candela shared his thoughts on what Roma will have to do this offseason to further improve the team.

“I’m counting on Ghisolfi’s abilities,” said the former French player. “But not only on him. De Rossi is the guarantee that the first thought will be for Roma, and in the past it hasn’t always happened.”

“There are many expectations for Ghisolfi, but the foundations are laid by the company, sporting director and coach.”

“It is important to cooperate, not to think about one’s own interests but about the good of Roma, and in recent times it hasn’t always happened because everyone thought about their own account.”

“I expect Daniele, Ghisolfi and the company to know how to manage money. De Rossi will have made his requests, many will leave. I’m curious to understand who we’re going to bet on.”

“The most important players to sign are the center forward and the central defender. I expect them to get them as soon as possible.  The center forward must guarantee 20 goals, and someone like Icardi is a guarantee.”

“I hope that Ghisolfi manages to bring in a young man ready for the Italian championship, a 19 year old. I don’t expect Leao but that he finds a new Leao.”

“It will be complicated to place all of the unwanted players but the mistakes of previous directors will have to be corrected. The older you get, the more difficult it is to place players. But it must be done, at the cost of losing something from an economic point of view.”
