Vitória terminate Mirko Antonucci’s loan

John Solano

Portuguese side Vitória FC have terminated the loan deal for Roma attacker Mirko Antonucci.

The 21 year-old was embroiled in controversy following Vitória‘s 3-1 loss to Boavista last week as he published a funny video on TikTok following the defeat.

This stunt infuriated not only the supporters but also manager Julio Velázquez, who announced today that the youngster’s loan has been prematurely terminated.

“Because of the history of the club and out of respect to the fans, a Vitória FC player must be so 24 hours a day,” said Velazquez.

“The situation is very simple: the club, the directors and the staff learned that an on-loan player did not behave acceptably — it wasn’t what our fans deserve. Roma has been informed that the loan (for Antonucci) ends now and that we’re no longer counting on the player”.

Antonucci took to social media to apologise moments before his loan termination was made official, “I am fully aware of the mistakes that I have made. I would like to apologise to all those who have been offended: the fans, the club, the manager, and my teammates. I am leaving all social media networks and from now on you will only watch me sweat for the Setubal shirt. Forza Vitoria”!

The apology, though, was too little too late: Antonucci is already on his way back to Rome.
