Roma youngster Cristian Volpato expressed his delight after making his first senior start for the club in their 2-1 win over HJK Helsinki in the Europa League.
The 18 year-old started in attack alongside Tammy Abraham and Stephan El Shaarawy, playing a total of 77 minutes against the Finnish side.
“I’m really, really happy,” he told Roma TV. “I knew sooner or later Mourinho would give me a chance to play from the start.”
“I just had to show a bit of patience and finally my time came. We played well and need to stay on this path.”
He added, “The manager told me to play like I know how, always quick. The team did well but I know we’re capable of doing more in front of goal.”
