Walter Mazzarri claims Napoli ‘deserved more’ in Roma loss

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri once again went over his side’s 2-0 defeat to Roma.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Napoli’s clash with Monza, Mazzarri commented on the Partenopei’s loss at the Olimpico, “Looking back on our games with Juve, Inter and Roma we got unlucky. We could have had a few more points.”

“There is regret, because we deserved more. Now we have fewer points than we deserved, some defeats sting a lot. The players tend to think the way I like, but we often fail to show it on the pitch. There is that fire inside, which needs to be channeled better.”

“Red cards are an example of this – Politano is a wonderful guy, he made a mistake. I told him to go and win, and he got annoyed at being stopped while he was going towards Roma’s goal. Red cards can happen to Osimhen. But I see this guy getting battered on the pitch. At that moment he felt the responsibility and therefore he made mistakes.”
